During the meeting, José María Berrio offered his support to the Vice Minister, Roberto Henríquez, to collaborate on the implementation and verification of protocols to strengthen the quality, safety, and hygiene of tourist establishments.
The CEO of the international company HS Consulting, José María Berrio, was received this Monday by the Vice Minister of Quality of Tourist Services of the Government of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Henríquez, with the aim of establishing lines of collaboration for the implementation and verification of quality, safety, and hygiene protocols in tourist establishments, and to reinforce the country as a safe destination and an international tourism benchmark.
During the meeting, both agreed that the Dominican Republic is at a key moment for tourism and economic recovery amidst the global COVID-19 crisis, and they committed to collaborating on the joint development of audit, consulting, and training programs within the framework of prevention, with the aim of strengthening tourist establishments to ensure they guarantee all hygiene and safety measures upon reopening.
In this regard, Berrio emphasized that “the Dominican Republic is a safe country from a hygienic-sanitary point of view, as it has always prioritized quality and safety as a differentiating factor compared to other destinations.” The CEO of HS Consulting also positively assessed the support that the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and the Vice Ministry of Quality of Tourist Services are providing to the sector: “The joint collaboration between public institutions, the hotel sector, and hotel associations such as Asonahores, the Santo Domingo Hotel Association, and Asoleste, is undoubtedly being key to a more agile recovery of the tourism sector and for source countries to choose the Dominican Republic as a safe country for travelers.”
